Minuteman Monthly Newsletter Issue 44 March 2005 Minuteman Monthly Newsletter Subscribers, I have been very busy lately editing the Web site. I have deleted quite a few pages. Merged some others, and created a few new ones. I have reduced the page download times of some of my "content heavy" pages, as well as limited my use of fluorescent colors to those paragraphs or thoughts that really needed emphasis. In addition, I have made efforts to increase the readability of the pages, in order to encourage others to stay on the Web site longer and learn more about the truth concerning guns and lawful gun owners alike. Currently, I see almost 800 Web page views a day and I would like to double that number to more than 1600 by year's end. Can you help, by posting my Web site to bulletin boards, blogs and writing about it in your own newsletters and newspaper editorials? Please take note that www.SaveTheGuns.com has its very own blog now. Please visit and feel free to leave comments on any of the articles. http://savetheguns.blogspot.com/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SAVETHEGUNS.COM QUOTES OF THE MONTH Speaking of a proposed ban on .50 caliber rifles... "This has nothing to do with the Second Amendment. This has nothing to do with taking away the right of someone to have a gun to protect themselves." U.S. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) (Come on Carolyn, shouldn't a U.S. House Rep. be more familiar with our Bill of Rights!!!) "What the Subcommittee on the Constitution uncovered was clear--and long-lost--proof that the second amendment to our Constitution was intended as an individual right of the American citizen to keep and carry arms in a peaceful manner, for protection of himself, his family, and his freedoms." Senator Orrin Hatch, Chairman, Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution, 97th Cong., 2d Sess., (not so long lost there Senator Hatch, some of us were very aware of the founder's intentions.) "This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing Government, they can exercise their 'constitutional' right of amending it or their 'revolutionary' right to dismember or overthrow it." Abraham Lincoln, First inaugural address, March 4, 1861. "Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest. If we want the Arms Act to be repealed, if we want to learn the use of arms, here is a golden opportunity. If the middle classes render voluntary help to Government in the hour of its trial, distrust will disappear, and the ban on possessing arms will be withdrawn." Mohandas K. Gandhi ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SAVETHEGUNS.COM GUN SAFETY TIP OF THE MONTH This month's gun safety tip is a very simple one and it's one that may save a life somewhere, possibly years down the road. If a friend or family member of yours has guns, but not a gun safe or trigger locks, consider buying one and offering it to them. Visit my "Gun Safes" and "Gun Locks" section on my "Safety Rules" page. If you don't have a gun safe or you are in the market for a gun lock, a visit to these recommended items could be valuable. http://www.savetheguns.com/safety_rules.htm#Gun%20Locks http://www.savetheguns.com/safety_rules.htm#Gun%20Safes I personally own at least three (3) of the items I have for sale through the posted links above and I heartily recommend all of them. Consider a gun safe, gun cabinet or gun lock purchase, because gun safety is not just about following rules. Gun safety rules are a big part of gun safety, but gun safety should be seen as a total package of rules, locks, safes, properly teaching children and an awareness that not every potentially dangerous situation is covered at all times. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MINUTEMAN MONTHLY AIMING POINT OF THE MONTH I have become an official Recruiter for the National Rifle Association (NRA). I have created a page called "NRA Membership" and I encourage you to visit it and consider renewing your NRA Membership, if it has lapsed or seriously consider joining us, if you haven't done so in the past. Please also consider an NRA Membership for your spouse or a Junior NRA Membership for your kids or grandkids. http://www.savetheguns.com/nra_membership.htm Or get out your credit card and become a member right now, with this provided link. http://membership.nrahq.org/default.asp?campaignid=XR017807 (DON'T FORGET TO PASS THIS NRA RECRUITER LINK ONTO A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER.) The National Rifle Association was formed in 1871 as a non-profit membership based organization by a small group of New York state National Guardsmen most of whom fought in the American Civil War. It's object was for the improvement of its members in marksmanship and to promote aiming and drill practice. In 1877, its name was changed to the National Rifle Association of America. Its headquarters have been in New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and now in Fairfax, Virginia. The NRA represents and promotes the best interest of gun owners and shooter-sportsmen and supports their belief in the ideals of the United States of America and its way of life. It is dedicated to firearm safety education as a public service, marksmanship training as a contribution to individual preparedness for personal and national defense, and the sports of shooting and hunting as wholesome forms of recreation. It stands squarely behind the premise that the ownership of firearms must not be denied to law-abiding Americans. The purposes and objectives of the National Rifle Association of America are: To Protect and defend the Constitution of the United States especially with reference to the inalienable right of the individual American citizen guaranteed by such Constitution to acquire, possess, transport, carry, transfer ownership of and enjoy the right to use arms, in order that the people may always be in a position to exercise their legitimate individual rights of self preservation and defense of family, person and property, as well as to serve effectively in the appropriate militia for the common defense of the Republic and the individual liberty of its citizens. To promote public safety, law and order and the national defense. To train members of law enforcement agencies, the armed forces, the militia and people of good repute in marksmanship and in the safe handling and efficient use of small arms. To foster and promote the shooting sports, including the advancement of amateur competitions in marksmanship at the local, state, regional, national and international levels. To promote hunter safety and to promote and defend hunting as a shooting sport and as a viable and necessary method of fostering the propagation, growth, conservation and wise use of our renewable wildlife resources. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SAVETHEGUNS.COM "ONLINE STORE" I have begun work on my "Online Store".
