Thank you all so very much for forwarding the address for http://www.SaveTheGuns.com out to your family and friends. There are NRA State Affiliate executives who are getting this newsletter, along with some state legislators and many federal employees. Together, we are making a tremendous difference in changing minds and getting out the truth. ========================================= First Two Announcements!!!!! I have two announcements to make in this month's Minuteman Monthly. 1.) The SaveTheGuns.com Message Board is up and running. I took the time to design this Message Board so that the thousands of visitors we get every week can post messages to each other, get questions answered, ask for advice and possibly meet some new pro-gun friends. I would like to see the message board begin to fill up, so please feel free to use it. There will be no registration, user names or passwords. Anyone can post to it, and there is a link to the message board at the top of every navigation bar on the entire Web site, so post away. http://www.SaveTheGuns.com/main.htm 2.) Due to a generous contribution from a SaveTheGuns.com Member, sometime in April, we will be receiving an order of www.SaveTheGuns.com baseball style caps. They will be embroidered with the SaveTheGuns.com logo, along with the Web site name. They will be one-size-fits-all, with a brass buckle adjustment in the back, for those with large noggins like myself. They are a solid khaki color, with royal blue embroidery. All current members of SaveTheGuns.com will automatically receive one in the mail, when they come in, sometime in April. If you are a member of SaveTheGuns.com, you are the reason why this Web site is still online, and I owe you one. For non-members and visitors, I have tried to keep the cost down. I have seen many caps of this quality retail over $20.00, but at least in the beginning, the initial cost will be only $12.99, shipping included. Yep, just $12.99, right to your door. C'mon guys, I don't want to get stuck with all these hats when they come in, because my wife will have my head. :-) I will send out an e-mail to everyone on the list when they come in and are ready for shipment. ############################################## ========================================== ############################################## SaveTheGuns.com Quotes of the Month "The direct costs to the United States associated with the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 are estimated to be forty billion dollars ($40,000,000,000). The indirect economic costs related to 9/11 are close to ten times that, or around $397,000,000,000). Strange thing is... this all could have been avoided if we had allowed four (4) airline pilots to carry about $1300 worth of their very own handguns on board those aircraft." Marc Richardson (from a newspaper editorial, 2003) "It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." Samuel Adams "The Father of the American Revolution" "The highest number to which, according to the best computation, a standing army can be carried in any country, does not exceed one hundredth part of the whole number of souls; or one twenty-fifth part of the number able to bear arms. This proportion would not yield, in the United States, an army of more than twenty-five or thirty thousand men. To these would be opposed a militia amounting to near half a million of citizens with arms in their hands, officered by men chosen from among themselves, fighting for their common liberties, and united and conducted by governments possessing their affections and confidence. It may well be doubted, whether a militia thus circumstanced could ever be conquered by such a proportion of regular troops." James Madison, The Federalist, Number 46, January 29, 1788 ############################################## ========================================== ############################################## SaveTheGuns.com Gun Safety Tip of the Month Child Proof Guns or Gun Proof Children? I have always taught that it is a far better thing to gun-proof your children than to child-proof a gun. Reality dictates that a sound strategy of both teaching your children proper gun handling procedures and letting them shoot and clean your guns, coupled with locking up and safely storing guns and ammunition must be followed. In general, guns should be stored so that they are inaccessible to unauthorized children or adults. Simply hiding a loaded firearm is not the way to go. Lock guns in a rack, cabinet or safe. Store ammunition in a separate container. If you foresee the real possibility of using the firearm for home defense purposes, there are many products on the market to assist you. Simple combination, single pistol lockboxes. Fingerprint scanning, single pistol lockboxes. Key locked trigger guards. Key locked cables. Obviously the concerns of a well-trained person with no children and the concerns of a family with small children differ in the level of precaution that must be observed. If you foresee the possibility of using a firearm for home defense, you should practice accessing your unloaded defensive firearm in a variety of conditions and circumstances. Tempering defensive firearm access, with home firearm safety is the responsibility of each gun owner. Only you can decide what is best for you and your home. Total firearm accessibility, may compromise gun safety considerations too much. But too many gun safety precautions, may compromise defensive firearm access. Ideally, you should be able to access a loaded firearm very quickly, while making unauthorized access of that firearm as difficult as possible. This is not an easy thing to accomplish and is the subject of much debate and conjecture. ############################################## ========================================== ############################################## Help Me Out By Visiting These Links http://www.qksrv.net/click-1101834-19357 (NBAF Magazine Subscriptions) http://www.qksrv.net/click-1101834-1161489 (CheaperThanDirt.com) http://www.vstore.com/vstorereading/savetheguns (VStore Address) https://secure.paypal.com/refer/pal=markel@tmlp.com (PayPal Sign Up Bonus Link) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/savethegunsco-20 (Amazon.com Associates) ********************************************************* ********************************************************* March's Minuteman Monthly Main Focus The main focus of the March Minuteman Monthly concerns an issue that I have addressed before. Because I have addressed the issue before in a past newsletter, I will not go into it deeply, however, as usual, I do have many things to say. I addressed the arming of our United States commercial airline pilots, back in July of 2002 in Issue 24 of the Minuteman Monthly. If you wish to re-read my statements and opinions on the subject of allowing our commercial airline pilots to defend the flight deck with a real firearm, just go to the Minuteman Monthly home page and MMM Issue 24 is linked there for you to read. http://www.savetheguns.com/Text%20Files/MMM24.txt My concerns on this issue this month are many indeed. It seems as if the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and the airline industry are thwarting the will of Congress to arm our commercial airline pilots. They are merely going through the motions of implementing an armed commercial airlines pilots program, while doing everything they can to discourage any participation. Both the TSA and the airline industry have made it abundantly clear that they will stand firmly in the doorway and block this legislation as much as they possibly can. The TSA is setting up unnecessary and objectionable requirements that our commercial airline pilots will have to meet, before they can even begin to think about having a firearm under their control in the cockpit. They will be required to undergo exhaustive physical and psychological examinations, even though the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) already requires exams every six months. They would have to endure an extremely intrusive background inquiry, which will include interviews with the pilot's friends and neighbors, in addition to a thorough cross-examination by a TSA psychiatrist, who could very well be anti-gun. The TSA has only set aside $500,000 to train a mere 50 pilots to allow them a firearm in the cockpit. Someone should tell the TSA that there are 35,000 flights a day and over 86,000 pilots who want to be able to protect their aircraft. We are currently in a "Yellow" state of alert for terrorist activities and the TSA and the airline industry are playing games and putting up barriers that are impeding this progress. Can you believe that they want to require the pilots to keep any cockpit firearm in a locked container? A pilot having a firearm in a locked container, while being cut to pieces or stabbed by a terrorist, hell bent on a suicide attack, is totally useless. A pilot cannot possibly obtain and ready a firearm, while being mortally attacked by trained terrorists. We must tell the TSA that our pilots must be armed now and should be allowed to carry a firearm on their person. There are now dozens of anti-aircraft missile batteries, placed in strategic locations around the United States, in order to possibly shoot down a high-jacked commercial airliner. Our gallant United States Air Force pilots could be given orders to destroy a passenger airliner, full of business people, vacationers and women and children, but the TSA and the airline industry are standing firmly in the way of properly arming our pilots. NOW I HAVE HAD IT!!!! NOW THEY HAVE MADE ME MAD!!!! I AM SO INCENSED AT THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY AND THE TSA'S INANE AND TIRESOME ATTEMPTS AT OBSTRUCTIONISM, I WANT TO GO TO WASHINGTON D.C. AND HOLLER AT THEM MYSELF. OF COURSE, IT DOES NOTHING TO SIMPLY COMPLAIN ABOUT IT AMONGST OURSELVES, SO BELOW, THIS TEXT, I WILL GIVE YOU A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TO CONTACT. ======================================== What To Do Now Contact The TSA http://www.tsa.gov/public/contactus ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact The President and Vice-President http://www.whitehouse.gov/ The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 COMMENTS: 202-456-1111 SWITCHBOARD: 202-456-1414 FAX: 202-456-2461 president@whitehouse.gov vice.president@whitehouse.gov -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Visit The Airline Pilots Security Alliance (Contribute To Them If Possible) http://www.secure-skies.org/ These are the good guys!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Write An Editorial To Your Local Or Statewide Newspaper Choose your newspaper here: http://dir.yahoo.com/News_and_Media/Newspapers/By_Region/U_S__States/ (Make sure the whole address goes into your browser if it gets cut off.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact The Airline Industry Linked here are all the homepages of the major airlines, where you can contact each one yourself. http://industrypages.com/links/pages/Airline_Industry/Airlines/index.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Your Elected Officials http://www.SaveTheGuns.com/for_activists_only.htm ********************************************************** ********************************************************** Thank you for registering as a Minuteman Monthly Newsletter Recipient.
